A dental implant is an anchor designed to integrate into the bone and replace the root of a missing tooth. Once the implant has healed, you should replace the cover which replaces the tooth, recovering both the aesthetics and the loss function. The use of implants allows us to replace one or more teeth, depending on the needs of the patient.
When there is the loss of one or more teeth, there is loss of bone and gums in that area, as well as a loss of masticatory ability. The implant is an ideal solution, because it stimulates the bone, preventing its reabsorption and returns to the patient the function in a simple, convenient and reliable way. Your teeth will not move when eating or talking. The loss of several teeth influences facial appearance. Teeth give support to the lips, facial profile and smile. To lose them, appear may produce a more aged look of the patient. Placing implants prevents bone loss, improving the aesthetics and function of the patient. On the other hand, the loss of teeth produces a displacement of the remaining teeth (extrusions, inclinations…), increasing the risk of accumulation of food among them and favoring the occurrence of caries and periodontal defects.
What are the phases of the treatment?
Initially, it is an individualized study of each patient to determine the type of treatment you need. This study is composed of x-rays, CT 3D, study models and photographs. In this way, we decided the type of prosthesis the patient needs, as well as the number of implants required. The use of the CT allows us to do a virtual planning of the surgery to get the best position of the implants. Guided surgery technology prevents, in some cases, carrying out any type of incision, reducing greatly post-operative pain and inflammation. Once implants, are placed we wait for the period of integration (2-3 months) for the placement of the final prosthesis. In conventional treatment, during treatment, the patient has a removable denture or presents absences. In Cielo Dental, we specialize in immediate loading. This technique is, provided that the case permits it, placing a provisional fixed prosthesis already or, during the same day of the surgery. After the period of osseointegration, the provisional prosthesis are changed for the final ones. In this way, the patient is more comfortable and safe during the treatment.
